iPhone Embarrassing Moments: #3: Ever read back thru a week-old text convo with a new bae and found, to your horror, that you pressed god-knows-what, and now a heart or thumbs-up symbol appears which also alerts them and exposes you as a creepy re-reader?? Yeah…me neither. Prevent tapbacks by not tapping and holding on a text bubble in your texting screen.
If you want to add tapbacks when you don’t have the time to type out a text response, see Trick 31 from my book below on how to add quick responses to texts:
1. Tap and hold on a message you’ve received. A pop-up will show options such as a heart, thumbs up/down, haha, !!, or ?
2. Tap one of the icons. The quick response will attach directly to the message.
Note: A new iOS 12 feature lets you tap back on iMessage notifications that display on your Lock screen. When you receive a text notification on the Lock screen, long-press to reply and then tap and hold on the mes-
sage to select a tapback response.
